“Honoring our Scholars” Gala 2021
On June 19, 2021, the Affton Education Foundation welcomed alumni, honorees, teachers, students and friends to its 17th Annual Hall of Fame Gala,“Honoring Our Scholars.” In order to celebrate safely, and to allow for full participation by both in-person and virtual attendees, AEF hosted the Gala as a “hybrid” event. In keeping with the scholarship theme, many Affton scholarship recipients were in attendance to be recognized for their accomplishments. Jason Au, the father of two Affton scholars, gave a moving and inspirational presentation on the importance of education from a parent’s perspective.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of two distinguished Cougar alums as awards were presented to Affton Alumni Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Kenneth E. Floro, Jr., M.D. (‘67), and to Affton Outstanding Young Alumnus David A. Serati (2012).
In-person attendees were in good spirits as they reconnected with old friends, and folks at home seemed to enjoy the event as well. We are happy to report that those good spirits carried over into another successful auction for the Foundation. The generosity of alumni and friends enables AEF to continue its support of teachers and students in the Affton School District. THANK YOU!!
